The BASK Beach Club: A Guide for Guests and Visitors

Daybeds, the pool, the kitchen, the music. How the BASK Beach Club works, when to come, and how to reserve a spot.

Quick Answer

The BASK Beach Club is the daytime heart of the resort: a long pool, shaded daybeds, a small kitchen for lunch, and a bar that turns up gently at sunset. Open to in-house guests and outside visitors, with daybeds reservable a day ahead. Quieter than the famous Bali beach clubs by intent, and better for it.

What it actually is

A 35-metre infinity pool that opens to the sea on the west side of the island. Shaded daybeds, a bar, a small kitchen for lunches and bar snacks. Music sits low through the day and warms up for the sunset hour, easing off by 7pm.

The whole space is designed to hold its own personality without being loud. It's a beach club for people who'd rather not be at a beach club.

Daybeds, in honest detail

For hotel guests. Included in your stay. In peak season, reserving ahead is worth it; in shoulder there is often space on the day.

For day visitors. Daybeds and cabanas are reservable. Ask the beach club for current terms and minimum-spend policy when you book.

Cabanas. Private cabanas available for small groups; reserve ahead.

Food and drink

A short lunch menu, cocktails and cold beer at the bar, and a considered non-alcoholic list. Ask for the current menu when you arrive.

When to come

Morning, 10:00 to 12:00. Calmer. Fewer people. The pool is at its bluest. Lighter clientele, often readers and couples.

Lunch, 12:00 to 15:00. Busiest. The reason for the daybed reservation. Music picks up around 14:00.

Afternoon, 15:00 to 17:00. Quietens between the lunch crowd and sunset. A favourite hour for solo guests.

Sunset, 17:00 to 19:00. The music peaks through the sunset hour and eases off by 7pm. The light on the water is what brings people here. Daybeds fill.

Evening, 19:00 to 22:00. Quiet bar mode after 7pm. Lights low, drinks cold, conversation warm. Dinner is at Pomona; drinks continue at Rosalee.

What it isn't

For setting expectations:

Not a Potato Head clone. No 200-person sunset dance floor. No wall of sound.

Not exclusive in an unfriendly sense. Day visitors are welcome. The atmosphere stays calm because the design and music keep it that way.

Not a children's pool. The main pool is adult-focused. Families with young kids tend to spend the middle of the day at the villa pools or on the beach.

Not a place to hold business meetings. A few quiet workers with laptops in the morning is fine. A four-person Zoom call from a daybed is not the vibe.

Etiquette, gently stated

A few requests that keep the room what it is:

  • Phones on silent. Calls are okay if you walk to the gardens for them.
  • No bluetooth speakers. The house plays music.
  • Daybeds aren't for two days of saving with a towel. Use them, then release them when you go elsewhere on the property.
  • Reef-safe sunscreen. The pool drains close to the sea.
  • Music tastes are personal. Ask staff if you'd like a request; don't bring your own speaker.

A few rituals worth borrowing

The 5pm swim. Pool, sea, back to pool. Most guests think to do it once and end up doing it every afternoon.

The quiet-drink hour. Mid-afternoon between the lunch crowd and sunset — the calmest stretch at the beach club.

Combining with other parts of the property

A typical guest day:

  • Morning swim or snorkel from the beach.
  • Beach club for lunch.
  • Spa in the afternoon (in-villa).
  • Sunset at the beach club bar.
  • Dinner at Pomona; nightcap at Rosalee.

The geographical layout of the resort makes this a natural walk. Nothing is far.

How to reserve

Reserve daybeds and cabanas at the beach club, or through your host if you are staying at BASK.
